Service Description

New Climber - This is the entry-level award for candidates who wish to learn basic climbing skills. OVERVIEW This level focuses on a safety-conscious attitude as much as climbing skills. It is designed to be achievable by any climber with aptitude, whilst remaining under the direct supervision of a coach at all times. MINIMUM AGE Ages 7+ HOURS Minimum hours of coaching required: 4 (over at least two date-separated sessions). Coaching hours on our Courses: 6 (2 x 3-hour sessions). RATIO The maximum group size for this course is 8 Participants. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1.1 Demonstrate awareness of safety rules and hazards 1.2 Put on a harness correctly, and if used at the centre, a helmet 1.3 Tie a rethreaded figure of 8 knot with stopper 1.4 Climb a chosen route with confidence 1.5 Descend from a route correctly 1.6 Belay safely under supervision 1.7 Demonstrate consistent safe behaviour 1.8 Communicate effectively with climbing partners 1.9 Complete 10 coach-selected climbs of any grade, including rainbow 1.10 Complete 10 belays INCLUDED IN THE PRICE Climbing Wall Entry Equipment Hire (Shoes, Harness, Helmet & Belay Plate) NICAS Level 1 & 2 Logbook NICAS Level 1 Certificate (Upon Successful completion of the course) BMC Participation Statement: The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions

Cancellation Policy

Cancelation with more than 30 days' notice, we will charge a £25 cancellation fee. Cancelation with between 7 & 30 days' notice, then a 50% refund will be given. Cancelation with less than 7 days' notice, then no refund will be given. We advise taking out cancellation, curtailment and accident insurance. If RSP cancels a booking for any reason, including illness, you will be given the option of either rescheduling your activity, or receiving a full refund. Some courses require a certain ratio to run, if these ratios are not met then the course will not run, and a full refund will be available. RSP staff will communicate with clients to keep them updated on this matter.
