Outdoor Discovery Award (Private Group)

Service Description

OVERVIEW The Outdoor Discovery Award or ODA is ideal for people of all ages who wish to learn basic navigation skills at a gentle rate, encouraging them to gain and improve personal confidence to get out and get active. These awards encourage exploration and journeying in local areas using simple maps such as street maps, pictorial park maps and orienteering maps. There is a gradual learning progression via One Star, Two Star and Three Star levels, with certificates and badges available for achieving participants. MINIMUM AGE Ages 7+ HOURS Each level of this course runs over 8 hours. (This can be split into small sessions with timings being arranged to suit groups) ODA SYLLABUS The syllabus operates at three different levels – 1 Star, 2 Star & 3 Star At each level the syllabus uses five headings: Engage with the outdoors Making your own map Journeying Understanding the concept of symbols and scale Setting the map RATIO The maximum group size for this course is 8 Participants. INCLUDED IN THE PRICE All Course Equipment & Handouts ODA 1*, 2* or 3* Certificate (Upon Successful completion of the course) BMC Participation Statement: The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.

Cancellation Policy

Cancelation with more than 30 days' notice, we will charge a £25 cancellation fee. Cancelation with between 7 & 30 days' notice, then a 50% refund will be given. Cancelation with less than 7 days' notice, then no refund will be given. We advise taking out cancellation, curtailment and accident insurance. If RSP cancels a booking for any reason, including illness, you will be given the option of either rescheduling your activity, or receiving a full refund. Some courses require a certain ratio to run, if these ratios are not met then the course will not run, and a full refund will be available. RSP staff will communicate with clients to keep them updated on this matter.
