Service Description

Develop your survival skills to be self-reliant in tough conditions and an awareness of natural resources and how to use them. This Survival Skills Course runs from 10am on Day 1 to 3pm on Day 2. What's Involved: (1) a. basic knife or multi-tool skills, including safety and sharpening b. first aid treatment you may need to use while on a survival event, considering you may have limited resources available c. how to construct different kinds of shelter d. how to build a fire and use basic lighting techniques You should not use man-made materials such as paper or firelighters. e. the various burning qualities of different woods f. how to maintain hygiene in a survival situation g. the correct use of international distress signals, using a whistle, torch, mirror or markers h. some basic actions to take while waiting rescue that will both keep you (and your group) safe and will assist your rescuers in locating you. i. Identify local food sources and how to exploit them. (2) Put together a personal survival kit. (3) Take part in a survival exercise: (24 hours including camping) During this you will: a. construct a shelter of natural or salvaged materials and sleep in it b. prepare a meal using raw ingredients that could have been found or caught c. cook all meals over an open fire d. cook without utensils, although you may use a knife. (4) If you successfully complete all of the above you will be awarded with your survival skills badge at the end of the challenge! *Requirements can be adapted to suit each young persons abilities* *This requires at least 4 people to run, and is suitable for up to 16 per group*


Cancellation Policy

Cancelation with more than 30 days' notice, we will charge a £25 cancellation fee. Cancelation with between 7 & 30 days' notice, then a 50% refund will be given. Cancelation with less than 7 days' notice, then no refund will be given. We advise taking out cancellation, curtailment and accident insurance. If RSP cancels a booking for any reason, including illness, you will be given the option of either rescheduling your activity, or receiving a full refund. Some courses require a certain ratio to run, if these ratios are not met then the course will not run, and a full refund will be available. RSP staff will communicate with clients to keep them updated on this matter.
